Marina Smirnova spent more than 20 years in Hospitality and Tourism, she leads Hospitality and Tourism Department of Moscow office of Cushman & Wakefield Russia and CIS since in August 2013. Marina oversees the direction of strategies for integrated development of hotel companies, development programs for large resorts and touristic destinations, as well as concept development, feasibility studies, valuation, market researches for hotel and tourism markets in Russia and CIS and also support for investment transactions in the hotel industry, interaction between investors and hotel operators.
Started her professional career in the Committee of Tourism of Russian Federation, Marina has been working in tourism and hotel business since 1993. Over years of working in the tourism authorities, Marina has accumulated a wealth of experience in creating various tourism infrastructure development programmes for Moscow and Russian regions, developing hotel market analysis methodologies, etc.
Under Marina’s guidance and with her direct participation there were completed more than 100 projects in various regions of Russia, CIS and on the leading resort destinations of Europe and Asia. In addition to experience in the concept development and regional development programs, Marina participated in one of the biggest projects of the Olympic Sochi, as CEO Deputy of business development of "Krasnaya Polyana" ("Gornaya Karusel"). The project was implemented with the participation of JSC "Sberbank of Russia".
Marina is the author of over 10 books and toolkits, a huge amount of articles on various aspects of hotel/tourism activities and acts as a guest lecturer on issues related to hospitality in leading universities of Moscow. Marina is a Member of Experts Council in Moscow City Government and she is highly recognized by her contribution to the Tourism development in Moscow City.
